Hither are some tips and tricks for making your own Galaxy Shirt…
~Make Your Own Galaxy Shirt~
Yous will need:
- A black shirt. Natural fabrics like cotton wool work best.
- Fabric or permanent acrylic paints, in cosmic colors.
- An onetime tooothbrush and white paint.
- A small spray bottle, and bleach.
Directions:
- It takes very little bleach to marking up the galaxy shirt. I used a pocket-size spray bottle with 1 part bleach, to 2 parts h2o. You can spray the t-shirt directly to fade areas on the shirt to requite it some dimension. For fun I twisted the eye of my shirt in the middle and on the arm, before I sprayed. I actually like the way this created a screw of lighter colors on the shirt. I recommend trying that technique!
- You lot are going to want to skip this adjacent stride. Simply don't! Let the bleach spots dry about of the mode, and then stick the shirt into the washing motorcar on cold, with a piddling detergent. Dry out shirt completely before continuing. This step stops the bleach from continuing to eat through your shirt, which can create holes. This is also the reason y'all dilute the bleach earlier you spray the shirt!
- The fun! I used an onetime rag to dab green, purple, greyness, blue and purple into the shirt. Endeavour to blend colors into each other for an especially spacey look!
- Stars! I took an old toothbrush and covered it in white cloth paint. Then I pulled dorsum on bristles to create a spray of paint droplets. Do this before you do information technology on the shirt to become the technique how you lot'd like it. Continue in mind that the closer yous are to the shirt the bigger and more than concentrated the stars will be!
- Use a pocket-sized paint castor to add any additional stars y'all'd like. And if y'all experience like adding some textile glitter – now is the fourth dimension. Let your shirt dry!
- Nosotros've done our shirt a few times now with very piffling fading. To help preserve the shirt consider washing in common cold, inside out.
- Enjoy your Galaxy!
Still feeling a piddling unsure of the process? Here is a very short video I made showing you how we made our shirt! It actually is a fun project, and perfect to allow kids assistance with.
May "the force be with yous" while you lot make this "timey wimey" Galaxy painting project! 😉
